Do you think you’d make a good president? Or Prime-minister? Or King? If so, what would be the first thing you’d do in office?
Bonus: If not yourself, who do you know that you think would make for a good president? Perhaps a blogger you’ve met through #postaday?
I don’t think I’d want the responsibility of being prime minister or even Queen, with everybody watching your every move and just waiting for you to make a mistake. Whatever you do, you’re going to upset somebody and the pressure must be horrendous.
I’m sure there’s been a similar topic in the past about what makes a good leader or who you think would be a good leader and I didn’t know how to answer then and I still don’t now.
I think a leader needs compassion, empathy and openness. They need to be able to listen to those around them; but make up their own mind and be decisive and clear. They have to take responsibility for their actions and be ready to admit when they make mistakes and clearly set out how they intend to put it right.
If I was in office though, the first thing I would do is find a way to make sure that people are paid in direct proportion to their benefit to society. I’d make sure that people like doctors, nurses, teachers, carers and those who help others receive high wages and footballers, models, actors etc aren’t the ones receiving the mega bucks. I can’t believe that we live in a world where people who play sport get paid more than people who save lives or teach people to read. It’s just insane.
